November 10, 2022 – The Municipality of Rosales joins the 4th Quarter National Simultaneous Earthquake Drill. As the siren was heard at 9:00 AM signaling the start of the drill, the participants performed the Duck, Cover, and Hold as an immediate response to the earthquake scenario.
The LGU-Rosales Employees headed by Mayor Liam S. Cezar, the Municipal Police Station (MPS), and the Bureau of Fire Protection (BFP), actively took part in the drill. Various schools also conducted their drill in their respective areas. The Rosales BFP led the activity being their Chief as the Incident Commander; they arranged a simulation exercise wherein members of the Rosales MDRRM Office, BFP, and PNP personnel, applied their skills in search and rescue, the RHU and Infirmary medical team attended to the victims, while PNP provided security and ensured order in the scene. The BFP also responded to a fire caused by the earthquake. They established an Incident Command to manage the scene wherein the members of the MDRRM Council were all present.
The LGU-Rosales’ Disaster Prepared (particularly during the earthquake) was evaluated by the Pangasinan PDRRMO and PDRRM Council. They gave a positive evaluation and commended the logistics, command, alertness, and capacity to handle such situations. Managing disasters and emergencies is a great challenge in every community. Preparations must be done to minimize impacts and damages and they must put the need to respond quickly into priority.
NSED is one of the many initiatives of the NDRRMC to help enhance the preparedness of Filipinos in facing earthquakes and other calamities.
“We cannot stop natural disasters but we can arm ourselves with knowledge: so many lives wouldn’t have to be lost if there was enough disaster preparedness.” ~ Petra Nemcova
